A master in Biomedical Sciences has the expertise to contribute to translational research regarding current biomedical problems on an international academic level. ISMMS is committed to improving diversity among our students, trainees and faculty; Individuals from historically underrepresented groups in science are particularly encouraged to apply. The QBS degree is intended for full-time study with an average time to completion of 15 months. For other academic bachelors, including Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology and Life Sciences, equivalency will be evaluated based on scientific competences and skills of the students by our Steering Committee on Internationalization. Graduates will have competencies in the management, analysis and interpretation of data from medicine, computational biology, pharma and genomics. The Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics provides a strong foundation for students to readily apply informatics tools and techniques to a diverse range of problems in the biological sciences and medical fields. The goal of this program is to enhance the scientific and professional preparation of students aspiring to a career in the health professions or in a related field requiring graduate level biomedical sciences. A minimum of five graduate-level courses focused in a selected biomedical engineering sub-discipline (biomedical data science, computational medicine, imaging and medical devices, immunoengineering, genomics and systems biology, neuroengineering, or translational cell and tissue engineering) as approved by the student’s advisor. The Health Data Science curriculum also includes a capstone that challenges QBS students to refine their data science skills while working on a real-world applied data project.
